Norwegian research center for Active Rehabilitation (NAR)

The Norwegian research center for Active Rehabilitation (NAR)  (www.active-rehab.no) was formally established in May 2003 as a research collaboration between the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Oslo University Hospital, Ullevaal, the Norwegian Sport Medicine Clinic (NIMI), and Norwegain School Sport Sciences mainly based on external funding.

The aim is to develop a dynamic, multidisiplinary research environment to develop new knowledge within the area of active rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders. The center is chaired by professor May Arna Risberg, PT, Phd, and currently involves 8 PhD students and two postdoc students.

Key research areas include (1) knee injuries (ACL injury, knee osteoarthritis, meniscus injury, and cartilage injury), (2) hip osteoarthritis, and (3) osteoporosis.
